Jesus' cleansing of the temple reveals his righteous anger toward anything that corrupts true worship. During Passover, he found merchants conducting business in the temple courts, turning God's house into a marketplace and crowding out those seeking to encounter God. His dramatic response wasn't destructive but purposeful - a prophetic sign pointing to his role as the new temple. When Jesus spoke of destroying and rebuilding the temple in three days, he was referring to his own death and resurrection. Today, as believers are called temples of the Holy Spirit, Jesus continues his cleansing work in our hearts, removing what doesn't belong so we can be proper dwelling places for God.
